I was one of the pioneering ladies of Shotokan Karate-Do. I started 45 years ago, after I had my second son Jo. Then suddenly I was ready to compete and entered several world championships and got several titles with my team. I came to Slough with my two sons in 1994, I opened a Karate class and hoped to return back to the karate world which I left.My Karate classes are very family oriented, everybody is welcome. I am open minded. C.R.B. (Child Protection) Certified.

I began training in Karate in 1994 , at the age of 43 and have been passionate about the practice and traditions of Karate ever since. My interest has also led me to training in Chinese Martial Arts. I received my 1st Dan from Sensei Enoeda of KUGB in 1998 and joined Sensei Mitsuoka and WSKF in 2005, I have since been recognised at 2nd & 3rd Dan by Senseis Mitsuoka and Kasuya. C.R.B. (Child Protection) Certified.
My karate journey started in 1990, inspired by my childhood fascination with martial arts movies. I joined the KASKAI association run by Sensei Robin Reid, which was affiliated to the SKIGB / SKKIF, so I also had the privilege of training under Soke Kanazawa, Hanshi Asano, and Sensei Murakami on numerous occasions.
Many years later, due to moving location for university, I joined the JKA under Sensei Ohta for the next chapter of my journey. It was during these years that I really started to relish expanding my karate knowledge through attending as many courses as possible across the UK and training with visiting Japanese instructors from the JKA and other Shotokan associations.
In 2019, I joined the WSKF and Sensei Tomiko Mitsuoka’s dojo, where I have been training since under her exceptional guidance. My motto for training is to regularly challenge yourself both physically and mentally, whilst also not forgetting to occasionally have some fun.
Alex has been training in Shotokan karate for over 20 years. His strong foundation in kihon (basics) continues to shape his approach to training today.
Since joining WSKF, he has developed under the guidance of Mitsuoka Sensei, Chief Instructor of WSKF England, whose high standards and attention to detail have had a lasting influence on his karate. One lesson that particularly shaped his understanding is that a judge cannot feel your technique, only see it — power must be expressed through speed, timing, and sharpness rather than tension.
Started martial arts practising Kendo in 1970, then moved onto different styles of Karate (Okinawan style and full-contact style and Chinese martial arts). He Has now been practicing Shokotan style Karate since 2005. C.R.B. (Child Protection) Certified.
I started practising karate in Romania at the age of nine. One of my earliest memories is of my Sensei, Vasile Popa, teaching us spinning techniques after attending a seminar with Sensei Hitoshi Kasuya. Those early years gave me a strong foundation and a lasting passion for karate.
I stopped training at 18 when I went to university, although over the years I made several attempts to return. After moving to the UK in 2011, I trained at a few local clubs before joining Sensei Tomiko Mitsuoka’s dojo in February 2018. From my very first lesson, I felt I had found the traditional Japanese teaching, discipline and passion for karate that I had been searching for.
